As Gaston County is an Affirmative Action employer, the County maintains a full-time Personnel Department, which is responsible for the recruitment of qualified employees. This department is also charged with keeping accurate and complete records for personnel administration, including health insurance, retirement benefits, worker's compensation, accident pressing reports, and time and pay records. This department also provides technical assistance to all County departments upon request, and the Personnel Director serves as the Affirmative Action Officer.
