TITLE:                       DIRECTOR-GASTON COUNTY MUSEUM (Position #AH0006)

 

LOCATION:             Gaston County Museum

                                131 W. Main Street, Dallas, NC  28034

 

PAY SCALE:            $42,876-$66,466 annually (Exempt-not eligible for overtime)

 

APPOINTMENT:     Full Time

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  (NOTE:  The duties listed below are not inclusive of all of the duties that may be assigned to the position but are considered as essential to the nature of the job).

·        Supervises all museum professionals and operations staff consistent with Strategic Plan, best practice and American Association of Museum accreditation.

·        Responsible for fundraising including identifying and writing grants and other revenue sources (sponsorships, donors, etc.), cultivating potential relationships, and soliciting donations.

·        Serves as staff liaison and reports to the Board of Trustees, county management and county officials on all museum related matters.

·        Prepares and manages annual county and board budgets; ensures all accounting policies and procedures; exhibition planning and supervision; restoration and maintenance of historic and modern museum facilities are followed and maintained. 

·        Responsible for partnerships and collaborations with public agencies and other organizations to market and increase community support for the museum.

·        Perform duties as assigned by Board of Trustees and county management

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Proof of education no longer required at time of application, but will be required if employment is offered unless specified as part of the minimum qualifications.

Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Art/History, Public Administration or related field and 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a museum setting.  A Master’s Degree is preferred.  A valid driver’s license is required. The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
